App Design

Designing a lending app

Overview

While lending is nothing new In the Financial space online lending become popular as most users in the targeted audience uses their mobile devices to apply for loans.

  • Role: UX/UI Designer

  • Team: Product & Engineer

Responsibilities

  • User Personas

  • Empathy Mapping

  • Analyze surveys, user interviews and analytics.

  • User flow workshop

  • Wireframing and ideation

  • Interface design and prototyping

  • Informal usability testing

The process

I used the findings from the research and discovery phase to create user personas. User tasks were created based on the most important tasks to complete for a user. These user tasks helped mapping out user flows enabling us to identify problem areas and design empathy maps.

Once we gathered a more clear path on the possible user tasks and what users need to complete them I started to sketch wireframes. These wireframes were developed into high fidelity interface designs for usability testing. With usability testing we focused on finding usability problems, user satisfaction and solutions to improve them.

The sketches

Rough sketching and ideation help with setting some basic goals for the user to achieve in order to design high fidelity wireframes. Testing with high-fi wireframes early on makes it easier to adapt and change as required.

The prototype

I started with implementing the current brand design and adapted design specific elements for Android. The design was then imported into invision for sharing and collaboration where we then can do prototype testing.

The test

The usability test was an informal setup to see if the MVP requirements are met and user expectations are satisfied. This gave us an insight into the success or failure rate, time spent on completing a task and any additional feedback.

Next steps

Gather feedback from usability studies to keep on improving in an iterative way.
